1946 Movie Night

1946 Movie Night

1946 is a documentary film that chronicles how the misuse of a single word changed the course of modern history. It chronicles the discovery of never-before-seen archives at Yale University which unveil astonishing new revelations, and casts significant doubt on any biblical basis for LGBTQIA+ prejudice. Featuring commentary from prominent scholars as well as opposing pastors, including the personal stories of the film’s creators, 1946 is at once challenging, enlightening, and inspiring.

While other documentaries have been successful in their attempt to treat the symptom of homophobia in the church, 1946 is working to diagnose and treat the disease - Biblical Literalism.

Email info@reconcilinggwinnett.org if you are able to attend.

Gender Nonconforming Clothing Closet

The Aurora Theatre is hosting this gender-nonconforming clothing closet to provide teens and young adults of the LGBTQ+ community a safe space to come and find clothes that fit them; heart and mind, body and soul. This is a safe and affirming space to come and try on anything they'd like and take home all the clothing they need for free. We will need about 40 volunteers to make this day run smoothly. If you are interested in being a part of this event you can sign up here or email Jenn at info@reconcilinggwinnett.org with any questions you may have. Come be a part of making Gwinnett County a safer place for our young people.

Come spend an hour with author Suzanne DeWitt Hall!

Suzanne DeWitt Hall (she/her/hers) is the author of Where True Love Is devotionals, the Living in Hope series which supports the family and friends of transgender people, The Path of Unlearning faith deconstruction books, and the Rumplepimple adventures. Her debut novel, The Language of Bodies (Woodhall Press) launched in October 2022. She is mildly obsessed with vintage cookbooks and the intersection of sexuality and theology. Suzanne lives with her beloved transgender husband, two terriers, and a cat named Chicken. Her work is designed to shine the light of love into hearts darkened by discrimination and fear.

Transgender identity is the eye of our current social and political hurricane, and the need for ways to increase understanding and foster discussion has never been greater. Novels have the power to inform as they entertain, breaking down barriers to compassion and communication. Come be a part of the conversation!
